what is is about?
‘Construction’ is the second part of a diptych about sexual abuse. ‘Construction’ happens ten years after ‘Wednesdays‘ and deals not only with the psychological aftermath of sexual abuse, but also with the seemingly simplicity of sexual relationships.
vision about the film
This film is about two topics. On the one hand it deals with the aftermath of sexual abuse when you’re a young adult. On the other hand, and more important, it is about what sex can be in a positive manner. Construction is part of a dyptich. It seems logical, after part one (Wednesdays), in which we experience the sexual abuse indirectly, to concentrate on the emotional aftermath, but it’s quite obvious it is very devastating and that’s why we don’t think we should put our focus on that. More interesting is to show in these two films what sex can not be, and what it can be. An important scene in Construction shows us that a healthy sexual relationship is only possible based on trust. If we reflect this with the first sexual experience of the the now 20 year old Kris, it shows us that a sexual relationship doesn’t always comes that naturally. The ‘construction’ of sex is made explicit.
financing
‘Wednesdays’ was financed using crowdfunding and with ‘Construction’ we would like to do this again, only with our own foundation. We know our goal is very high, but the topic is extremely important and we would like to pay the people we work with for a change. We actively search for funding worldwide for a period of about a year: as long as ‘Wednesdays’ will play at festivals.
Every amount of money is welcome! And you’ll get something in return. As a favour you get a reward depending on the amount of money you would like to support us.
